Minister of Labour, Skills and Innovation, Honourable Joel Chigona, MP, Interacts with Senior Management Team


The Minister of Labour, Skills and Innovation, Honourable Joel Chigona, MP, on 12 November, 2025, held an interface meeting with members of the Ministry’s senior management team.
Speaking during the meeting, the Minister urged the team to be results-oriented in delivering the Ministry’s mandate.
“Malawians are looking up to us to provide the necessary support and services that drive skills development and job creation,” said the Minister.
Hon. Chigona also emphasized the urgent need to address critical issues within the Ministry, particularly the issuance of certificates to TEVET students, describing it as a matter of public concern highlighted across social media platforms.
During the session, the Minister was taken through a presentation outlining the Ministry’s establishment, structure, and mandate. This will be followed by a series of one-on-one departmental meetings aimed at identifying and implementing practical solutions to the challenges facing the Ministry.
Meanwhile, the Director of Assessment and Certification, Joseph Chirombo, reported that 20,000 TEVET certificates have been processed to be distributed in the week beginning 19, November, further indicating that procurement of more certificates is in progress.
